JARVIS REUNITED WITH LING

Striker Ryan Jarvis has become Torquay United's first summer signing after agreeing a one-year deal to stay at Plainmoor for the 2012-13 campaign.

During a loan spell towards the end of last season from Walsall, Jarvis scored a number of crucial goals, which included the decisive goal in the Gulls' 201 win over Port Vale in March and also found the target in the final defeat against Hereford United.

After he was released by the Saddlers, Torquay manager Martin Ling acted quickly to offer him a full time deal.

Jarvis, 25, who has also played for England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 levels, first worked with Ling in the 2006-07 season when Ling signed him on loan for Leyton Orient.

In this spell, Jarvis enjoyed what is probably the most prolific goal scoring spell of his career as he scored six times in 14 games before returning to Carrow Road.

He later had loan stints with Kilmarnock and Notts County before joining Orient permanently in 2008 where he stayed for two years before joining Walsall.

Three Facts about Ryan Jarvis:

1. During the 2004-05 season,  Ryan found the back of the net for Norwich in their 2-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield with a spectacular 20-yard strike on January 3rd 2005.

2. He was part of the England Under-19 squad that reached the final of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2005.

3. His brother, Rossi Jarvis, who also played for Norwich City, also appeared for the Gulls during the 2006-07 season.
