Peter Reid's reign as Plymouth Argyle manager got off to a winning start as the Pilgrims defeated Southampton 1-0 at the St Mary's Stadium. A 47th minute strike from Luke Summerfield wrapped up the points for Argyle.
Yeovil Town also won as Terry Skiverton came out on top against his predecessor Russell Slade, who is now in charge of Leyton Orient, as the Glovers beat Orient 2-1 at Huish Park. Dean Bowditch opened the scoring for Yeovil before Alex Revell equalised for the visitors. A debut goal from Arsenal loanee Luke Freeman on the stroke of half-time proved to be decisive for the Glovers.
A late goal from Richard Logan secured a point for Exeter as they drew 2-2 with Colchester United at St James Park. A 17th minute penalty from Ryan Harley put Paul Tisdale's side in front before an Anthony Wordsworth brace saw the U's edge in front before Logan struck on 87 minutes.
