SIX TALKING POINTS FROM TORQUAY UNITED VERSUS BROMLEY

1.Next Sunday's showdown with Stockport County is now huge.

After drawing 0-0 with play-off chasing Bromley yesterday the attention switches to United's Sunday showdown with Stockport County next weekend. The Gulls' meeting with the Hatters was moved to 12.15pm for live BT Sport coverage - as both teams are in contention for the National League title.

However, with Sutton winning 2-0 against Weymouth they now trail United by two points and could overhaul the Gulls in the next seven days - should they win both their game in hand over Woking in midweek and their meeting with Maidenhead United next Saturday they would be four points clear of United.

2. Boden's early chance could have been a big turning point.

Scott Boden almost marked the perfect return to the Gulls' starting line-up, after sitting out United's Easter Monday victory over his parent club Chesterfield, when his looping bounced back off the inside of the post in the third minutes. It looked for all the world it was heading in and Bromley keeper Mark Cousins was well-beaten and it serves to underline how thin the difference between winning and merely drawing can be sometimes.

3. 211 minutes without conceding for United's defence.

After keeping their second successive clean sheet - Torquay United's defence have now gone 211 minutes without conceding. Not since Tyrone Barnett reduced Eastleigh's arrears in the 59th minute of the Spitfires' 3-1 defeat at Plainmoor on May 1 has the Gulls' backline been breached.

Amongst the key performers in United's defence was AFC Bournemouth loanee Sam Sherring who celebrated his 21st birthday.

4. The Gulls are now unbeaten in ten.

Despite not winning yesterday, United are now unbeaten in ten games and have not tasted defeat since losing 1-0 to Dagenham & Redbridge on March 27. This sequence includes eight wins and two draws - and it could yet help manager Gary Johnson to win the manager of the month prize for April 2021, which is still to be announced.

5. Set piece threat.

On occasions United did pose a threat from set pieces - most notably in the second half when Sam Sherring and Scott Boden both went close with headers following corners from substitute Armani Little. On another either one of them, if not both of them, could have found the target and United would have come away with all three points.

6. Andy Woodman challenging the belief that goalkeepers can't be managers.

Dino Zoff and Tony Waiters aside, very few goalkeepers have successfully made the transition to management. However,  Bromley manager Andy Woodman appears to be doing his level best to challenge that assumption and join the list himself. The Ravens' draw with the Gulls was another impressive result since Woodman was appointed to succeed Neil Smith following their Easter Monday win over Hartlepool United.
