Goal difference is all that separates the Gulls and the U's - while they also trail leaders Hartlepool United by one point, but have two games in hand on Pools.

Fourth-placed Stockport County are currently six points behind first placed Hartlepool, so the Hatters will need to rise from the pack with a run of five or six wins to lift themselves into title contention. Their chances of doing this rest largely on the shoulders of Irish striker Paddy Madden, who moved to Edgeley Park from Fleetwood Town. Madden is a figure well-known to United boss Gary Johnson - as the Irishman was a talismanic figure in Johnson's Yeovil Town side who won promotion to the Championship in the 2012-13 season, which also saw him win the League One player of the year award.
