CARLING CUP PREVIEW 2011-12

This year's Carling Cup first round draw will see at least one South West club in the hat for the next stage after Exeter City and Yeovil Town were paired together.

Ironically, the tie comes almost a year to the day of the untimely death of former Glovers' and Grecians' striker Adam Stansfield from Bowel Cancer.

Both sides go into the game after experiencing varied fortunes on the opening day of the season as Exeter drew with Stevenage and Yeovil were beaten by Brentford.

Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United will need to overcome Championship opposition to reach the second round. The Pilgrims, who fielded nine debutants against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, host Millwall and Home Park, whilst Torquay travel to Southampton.

The Gulls will be without striker Billy Kee who is on international duty with the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad.
